2008 Longhorn Corvette Club Road Trip Route Information
The proposed route has us leaving the Austin area Wednesday Morning
EARLY,
overnighting in Las Cruces, New Mexico, than leaving Las Cruces and continuing on
to Tombstone.
The first day will be a long one to make the second day much shorter.
The plan is to meet at the Y in Oak Hill in front of the Closed Albertsons.
at 7:30 AM and leave at 8:00 AM
Those meeting us from the San Antonio Area could meet us in Johnson City where
US-290 meets
US-281.
We will leave exactly on time from The Y.
The route as planned will take us on US-290 through Johnson City and Fredricksburg.
There will be a short stop in Fredricksberg. We will continue on us-290
to I-10 and head west on I-10. We will continue on I-10 to Las Cruces.
This is a long run which should take about 10 hours
with stops. Food and fuel are available along the route should we unable
to make the planned fuel stops.
The second day will have us leaving Las Cruces on I-10 west to Benson Arizona.
We will turn South in Benson on US-80 through Saint David to Tombstone.
We should arrive in mid-afternoon.
This will allow us time to Check in to the hotel and rest a little before
dinner.
The return trip can take several routes. Some of us are going to take
some time to do some sightseeing (and visiting with family) after the
car show is over.
We will travel from Tombstone to Tucson. Than from Tucson through some back roads
through the Salt River Canyon (very spectacular scenery) to Winslow. Winslow to home
is I-40 through Albequrque to Amarillo. Amarillo to Austin is US-287 to Witchita Falls
to US-281 to US-29 to Georgetown.
